The new Innovative History Curriculum

- In this quality I was the main coordinator of the new History Curriculum (Aprendizagens Essenciais in Portuguese) a task requested by the Portuguese Ministry of Education to all the teachers associations – the goal of this work was to minimize the curriculum overload of the Portuguese educational system; History teacher for middle and high school levels

I will present and discuss why is the new History Curriculum that I coordinated innovative and what are the goals that its implementation pretend to achieve; How is this implementation taking place in Portuguese schools and what are its implications for the development of critical thinking, history learning and citizenship building.
