Merits:

PhD in Education (Applied Didactics; History Education) completed at the University of Santiago de Compostela, in 2018. Teacher of Basic Education at the Learning Center "Inovar e Educar", in the city of Oporto. Integrated researcher of the CITCEM. Researcher of the portuguese team responsible for the investigation work within the european project named "National Plan for Adult Literacy". Author and coauthor of some scientific works about Teaching and Learning, History Education, Historical Narratives, Teachers' Professional Identity, Adult Literacy.

Contribution:

History education may contribute, in the classroom, to the formation of real citizens, who question and intervene in the 21st century society where they act everyday. That is if the learning of history in that context is not restricted to the memorization of substantive contents, to the adoption of banal nationalisms, to the search for exemplary lessons for the future.

Expectations:

An opportunity to know the perspectives of teachers and researchers from other countries, with a different history and a different present, about what is, nowadays, advocated as history education in the classroom. In other words, what ideas and actions can be adopted in order to change, also through the learning of history, the behaviour of students regarding the reading and interpretation of the world, in a multicultural and democratic sense.
