Topic:
Peer-to-peer support to enhance hands-on Art learning experiences outside classroom
Merits:

Veerayut Petprapai is a passionate artist and art teacher from Soeng Sang School, Thailand. In his school, the majority of the students are from poor backgrounds. He learned that outside the classroom, many of his students do not have much opportunity, if any, to participate in art activities that promote their creative ability. This results in them having very low confidence. He believes that giving students more access to hands-on art learning experiences offers measurable benefits. Because of that, Veerayut has been running a number of art programs, using peer-to-peer support, in order to help bring hands-on art experiences to his students outside of his classroom. For example, “Art Family”, a family-like art community where Veerayut offers a place for students who are interested in learning art to stay long-term and practice their creative skills. He provides art supplies as well as teaching them different art techniques. Veerayut has inspired many young artists in Thailand, and his students have won over 2,000 awards around the world.

Contribution:

Veerayut will be sharing his creative teaching techniques, using peer-to-peer support, and how peer-to-peer support can be implemented in art education.

Expectations:

Veerayut wants to share and exchange ideas about education with other educators from around the world.
