Since February 2020, as soon as Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first diagnosed in Colombia, Dr. Catherine Layton Donato, has been researching the origin and import path of COVID-19 to Colombia, using epidemiological, historical air travel, and phylogenetic observations. The doctor's research provided evidence of multiple introductions, mostly from Europe, of 12 documented lines. Phylogenetic data confirmed the connection of epidemiologically related COVID-19 transmission chains.
